Toni & Helmet - 3rd & 4th in age groups.

The triathlon season may be in hibernation but there is plenty of action happening at various running races around Sydney.
Last weekend saw 7 club members front up for race 3 in the Sri Chinmoy series. This was held over a fairly flat course along the Cooks River at Hurlstone Park. Wet weather in the lead up to the race made the course interesting with a giant lake covering part of the path and a long section of sticky mud on another part of the course that had to be carefully negotiated.
Everyone raced the 8km course with 4km and 16km distances also on offer.
Standout performances on the day were from Toni who won 3rd in her age group with a time of 47:36 and from Helmet who came 4th in his age group with a time of 33:07.
Also making huge improvements is Tarn who took 3 mins off her previous 8km race on what was a tougher course. AWESOME!
Club results:
  • Alison Gilmore 48:37
  • Rob (Helmet) Lutz 33:07
  • Adam (Tick Tock/Princess) Luck 36:23
  • Tarn Luck 55:53
  • Kylie Walker 48:54
  • Toni Wood 47:36
  • Cheri (kb) Lutz 55:52

Sydney Marathon Clinic - Sunday 21st June 2009
Sunday also saw the last Sydney Marathon Clinic race for the season. (Aunty) Karin Kaehne has been putting in some solid training of late and lined up for the 30km event. This was her second attempt that this distance this year. Helmet had given her special strategic advice the night before and she was keen to have a go at a PB.
We were excited to receive a phone call after the race from an excited Aunty K telling us that she had run a 4 minute PB finishing in 2:29:06!!!!!
Aunty is in training for the Cities Marathon in July - we can't wait to see how she goes!
Also racing the 30km was our very own Koppo Kopcikas. Koppo has just completed 50 runs in 50 days and performed admirably in the 30km coming home in 2:39:32.
Racing the 10km event was Nick (Benjamin Button) Taylor. We haven't seen much of Nick of late so it was good to hear that he is back out on the road again. Nick completed the 10km in a tidy 46:00.
